Lovers of alternative rock melodies and industrial beats rejoice! On March 17th, the Berlin-based trio The History of Colour TV their third LP Something Like Eternity. However, here at Stereo Embers you have the exclusive privilege of being able to stream the album in its entirety before its official release.

Founded by British artist Jaike Stambach in 2010 as a solo multimedia project, The History of Colour TV has always aimed at producing a mesmerizing experience. Stambach was eventually joined by Markus Mocydlarz and Janek Sprachta, and has steadily released albums and EPs while maintaining a busy tour schedule for the past few years. Now, The History of Colour TV has become a staple on the Berlin music scene, and are starting to captivate audiences around the world.

Produced by Peter Deimel of Black Box Recording Studio in France and released on France’s Cranes Records, Something Like Eternity began its creation journey in 2016. The leading singles, “Wreck” and “As Grey As Park Can Be”, are stellar representations of the sounds found on the album. Both feature gritty and moody guitar melodies accompanied by hypnotic drum beats and restrained vocals. Yet, “Wreck” is defined primarily by its arpeggio patterns, whereas “As Grey As Park Can Be” is marked by fragmented and almost disturbing beats. However, both singles demonstrate the musicians’ ability to think outside the box. They have successfully created refreshing sounds that seem to grab at a troubled heart and give it a gentle, cathartic squeeze.

And be sure to listen to the album from start to finish. The final track holds a special surprise that gives the album a beautiful ending.

Something Like Eternity will be available for purchase digitally and on vinyl from Cranes Records, Bandcamp, and iTunes.
