Stereo Embers’ Album Premiere: Lost Realties by Nate Way

Written by:

Stereo Embers is pleased to host the premiere of Lost Realties today, the dreamily captivating debut solo album from Portland, Oregon-based musician Nate Wey.

Previously the singer of dreampop/shoegaze act Souvenir Driver, Wey recorded Lost Realties during the pandemic’s initial lockdown.

Collaborating musicians from other outfits emailed him their parts as needed, and as such, the LP includes contributions from members of Roselit Bone, Daydream Machine, and even a previous drummer of Sheryl Crow’s band.

Musically, Lost Realities falls somewhere between dreampop, neo-psychedelia, and ‘90s indie music.

The full length’s tracks are saturated with guitar reverb, synths textures, and atmospheric moodiness that recall the illustrious likes of Spiritualized and Sparklehorse.

Wey describes the album as a “post-apocalyptic heartbreak album.” Each song radiates a different vibe, and highlights include the cinematic, symphonic, and reflective “Movie Ending” and heartfelt, psych-folk-tinted “Dark Fountain.”
