Siouxsie & The Banshees’ Budgie To Release Memoir In June

Written by:

Longtime Siouxsie & The Banshees drummer Budgie will release his memoir in early June.

Titled The Absence, the memoir will detail the musician’s tenure in bands like Big In Japan, The Slits, Siouxsie & The Banshees and The Creatures.

The book is said to cover his working class childhood in St. Helens, his time in art school in Liverpool, and joining bands like The Slits, the Banshees and The Creatures.

Budgie also covers his alcohol and drug habit, his romantic partnership with Siouxie Sioux and the demise of Siouxsie & The Banshees.

Considered one of the greatest drummers of the last fifty years, Budgie was behind the kit on the Slits’ seminal Cut album and he played with Siouxsie & The Banshees from 1979 to 1996. His versatility as a drummer found him effortlessly able to play punk, reggae, funk and jazz.
