“Singles” Soundtrack Gets Expanded Reissue–New Set Features 18 Extra Tracks

Written by:

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 25 years since Cameron Crowe’s Singles first hit theaters.

The 1992 film, which starred Matt Dillon, Bridget Fonda and Kyra Sedgwick was set in Seattle and focused on a group of twentysomething characters who stumble and wade their way through the singles scene.

Aside from being a beloved Gen-X favorite, the film spawned an equally beloved soundtrack that came at the height of the Grunge movement. Including Pearl Jam, Mother Love Bone, Mudhoney, Alice In Chains and Chris Cornell, among others, Singles is an essential document of one of the most seismic musical zeitgeists of the modern era.

Sony Music announced today that the soundtrack will be given a deluxe reissue and the early reports are that it’s rather comprehensive and will contain 18 additional tracks.

The CD version will be a double disc set while the vinyl will be a triple-LP set. Both versions will contain the original 13-track album.

Aside from new inclusions by Soundgarden, Truly and Blood Circus, the 18 bonus tracks also feature a wealth of material from Chris Cornell, Alice In Chains and Citizen Dick, who are Matt Dillon’s fictional band in the film.

Citizen Dick are comprised of Peal Jam’s Eddie Vedder, Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard.
