Sinéad O’Connor has posted a troubling video in which she claims to be suicidal and living in a New Jersey motel.

In the video she identifies the motel as being, “in the arse end of New Jersey.”

Visibly upset and lapsing into tears, she goes on to say:  “I’m all by myself. And there’s absolutely nobody in my life except my doctor, my psychiatrist, the sweetest man on earth, who says I’m his hero, and that’s about the only thing keeping me alive at the moment … and that’s kind of pathetic…”

Friends, family and fans have taken to social media to express their concern for O’Connor.

The 50-year-old O’Connor goes on to address her ongoing battle with mental illness: “I want everyone to know what it’s like, that’s why I’m making this video. Mental illness, it’s like drugs, it doesn’t give a shit who you are, and equally what’s worse, it’s the stigma, it doesn’t give a shit who you are…And suddenly all the people that are supposed to be loving you and taking care of you are treating you like shit.’’

In the nearly 15-minute video, the legendary Irish singer says she has three mental illnesses and has been living on her own for two years. She says she wants her family to come to her aid.

O’Connor adds: “I hope that this video is somehow helpful. Not to me, but the fact I know that I am only one of millions and millions and millions of people who are just like me, actually, that don’t necessarily have the resources I have in my heart and my purse.”
