Shed Seven are number one.
The York outfit have hit the top spot on the UK album charts for the first time in their thirty year career.
Their new album A Matter Of Time certainly has titular significance, as it really was just a matter of time before they landed the coveted spot.
Their sixth album certainly did the trick, hitting number one a week after its release.
Not only are they now the highest charting band from York, oddly, they also now have the distinction of being the band with the longest space between the release of their debut album (Change Giver) and achieving a number one record.
In case you were wondering what that duration is, it’s 29 years and three months.
The band’s spokesman wrote on social media: “We’ve waited 30 years for this announcement, but the stars have finally aligned, and we’re thrilled to announce that our album ‘A Matter of Time’ is number one on the official UK album charts! A huge thank you to all our fans for supporting us; and for everyone who’s bought the record … it really is a dream come true! Finally, we’ve got the gold at the end of the rainbow!”
The band’s frontman Rick Witter wrote on Twitter: “I’m overwhelmed with the love you guys are pouring over the Sheds. Thank you to everyone. This life is crazy. You gotta grab it by the horns and hang on. You are all amazing. I’m going to sit in the corner and get emotional…”
