Stereo Embers has learned that Therese MacGowan, the mother of The Pogues’ Shane MacGowan, has been killed.
The cause of death was a single car collision and grimly, it marks the first road casualty in Ireland for 2017.
MacGowan’s mother, who was in her mid-80s, was alone in the car when the vehicle struck a wall in Co Tipperary.
MacGowan’s parents lived in the village of Silvermines, Co Tipperary, which is where the singer was born.
