Selena Gomez has signed on to play Linda Ronstadt in an upcoming biopic about the singer’s life.
Currently in pre-production, the film is being co-produced by John Boylan (who was Ronstadt’s manager) and James Keach, who produced documentaries about David Crosby and Glen Campbell. Keach also produced the 2019 documentary about Ronstadt called The Sound of My Voice.
Gomez, who has been busy working on Hulu’s Only Murders In The Building, hasn’t appeared on the big screen since Woody Allen’s 2019 film A Rainy Day In New York.
She’s also set to play the lead in the upcoming film Emilia Perez, a crime/comedy/musical.
The Grammy Award-winning Ronstadt, who suffers from progressive supranuclear palsy, retired from singing and recording in 2011.
