I first shot TAZ when he was barely a teenager and playing in the band Lions on the Moon.
A preternaturally gifted guitar player with stage presence to burn, it was easy to see even then that TAZ, born Brandon Niederauer, was destined for greatness.
And it didn’t take long for greatness to arrive. The 22-year-old Yale graduate in Economics is now a music biz veteran; he’s played Coachella, opened for The Rolling Stones, and appeared on Broadway in School of Rock.
Not only that, but he’s toured the world, played with Warren Haynes, Jon Batiste, the Scorpions, Derek Trucks and Buddy Guy.
And that’s just a partial list.
TAZ’s recent set at Garcias was a blistering blast of smoldering blues, furious funk and searing soul.
From the opening song to the very last note, this was an invigorating night of music.
