Saint Etienne have announced the upcoming release of the deluxe anniversary edition of their album So Tough.
Originally released in 1993, So Tough was the British band’s sophomore album and remains their highest charting effort, landing in the Top 10 at #7. It also reached #1 on the British Independent Albums chart.
So Tough is the legendary indie dance band’s first album with lead singer Sarah Cracknell, who also appears on the album cover in a photo taken by her father when she was six years old.
On their official site, Saint Etienne wrote of the release: “This lavish set follows previous anniversary releases of ‘Foxbase Alpha’ and ‘Tiger Bay’ and includes: vinyl version of the original album in a gatefold sleeve cut at 45RPM over two discs; ‘So Tough – Remains Of The Day’, a 10 track vinyl companion album of rarities and demos, featuring previously unreleased material; ‘Hobart Paving’ a bonus 7’’ single cut at 45RPM; a 28-page booklet featuring new essays and never seen before photos; a poster and a reproduction of the original press release from 1993.”
The band’s Bob Stanley posted on Twitter today: “Morning St Et fans. So Tough 30th anniversary deluxe edition will be available to buy on Tuesday 12th December from 5pm. It looks beautiful.”
