Recession Proof: Anders Osborne and Jackie Greene Live In New York

Written by:

The prospect of seeing two of my favorite musicians taking the stage together was too good to pass up.

So, COVID be damned, I headed out to the Capitol Theatre to see Anders Osborne and Jackie Greene share the bill at one of the best venues around for live music.

And it was a great night. Switching off doing songs from each other’s catalogs, Osborne and Greene had a natural, breezy synergy and they rolled through the setlist with wondrous ease.

Filled with blues and soul and rootsy beauty, songs like “Flower Box” and “Recession Proof” simmered with energy and heart.

The opener Jonathan Sloane was previously in Anders’ band and also the Chris Jacobs Band.  He did a short opening set and then played with Anders and Jackie for the entirety of their set.

Jamie McClean opened the night doing a set in Garcia’s before the main and show and he did a second set after the Anders and Jackie set was over in Garcia’s as well.

McClean then joined them on the big stage for the end of their set and encore.
