R.I.P Crystal Castles

Written by:

Stereo Embers has learned that Crystal Castles have broken up.

The break-up of the synth duo of Ethan Kath and singer Alice Glass was enacted in a rather public way when Glass took to Twitter to reveal she was no longer in the band.

Her first tweet was curt and direct: “I am leaving Crystal Castles.”

She followed that with a more expansive statement: “My art and my self-expression in any form has always been an attempt towards sincerity, honesty, and empathy for others. For a multitude of reasons both professional and personal I no longer feel that this is possible within CC. Although this is the end of the band, I hope my fans will embrace me as a solo artist in the same way they have embraced Crystal Castles.”

The Canadian outfit got their start in 2004 and broke through with their hit “Not In Love” which found them teaming up with Robert Smith of The Cure.
