I’m a huge fan of the band Gov’t Mule and its frontman and guitarist Warren Haynes.
Around 25 years ago I was recording shows around NYC several nights a week and Warren would often sit-in with the other local bands and whenever he showed up you knew you something amazing was going to happen. Whether playing with the Allman Bros. or his pre-Mule Warren Haynes Band, I would see him any chance I could.
Now, if I’m lucky I get to see a Mule show once or twice a year but I always look forward to it as I know it’s going to be a guaranteed great night. This past Saturday was no exception. It was the closing night of Mule’s winter tour with legendary jazz guitarist John Scofield, for the tour that’s aptly billed as Sco-Mule. Both Haynes and Scofield are two of the best guitarists playing today and it was a night of music played by bona fide virtuousos.
I was so happy to have the honor to shoot one of my very favorite bands of all time.
