Gogol Bordello at the Capitol Theatre, Port Chester, New York

Stereo Embers’ Photo Editor Geoff Tischman found himself at his first Gogol Bordello gig the other night at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York.

It didn’t take long for Geoff to understand why they ‘re the preeminent live band in the country. An energetic and frenetic blast of gypsy punk, the band knocked him out.

“I heard from several highly trusted sources that Gogol Bordello are one of the greatest live acts going so my expectations were high going in,” Geoff told us. “And,” he continued, “they were exceeded by a mile. This was the best live show I’ve seen in ages. The band’s energy and pace was unrelenting–there wasn’t one down/low moment for the whole two- hour set. The visual and theatrical element, the musicianship and the songs were exceptional. I loved every minute.”
