Paz Lenchantin Seems To Be As Surprised As You Are That She’s Leaving The Pixies

Written by:

Paz Lenchantin is no longer in the Pixies.

She’s been replaced by Band of Skulls’ Emma Richardson, who is set to make her debut with the band on March 8 in Ireland.

The bassist has been with the Pixies for a decade, first stepping in after Kim Shattuck’s short tenure in 2014.

Prior to joining the legendary outfit Lenchantin played with Zwan, the Silver Jews and A Perfect Circle.

She’s played on the last three Pixies albums (Head Carrier, Beneath The Eyrie and Doggerel) and toured the world with the band extensively, which made their magnanimous statement about her departure no surprise.

“Lenchantin has exited the band to concentrate on her own projects,” the statement read. It went on to say: “We are grateful for Paz’s contributions, and wish her all the best going forward.”

The surprise, however, seems to be the part about Lenchantin leaving the band.

And nobody was more surprised than Lenchantin herself.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Lenchantin described her exit as being, “… a bit of a surprise to me as it is to many, but it looks like they have a solid plan figured out which in turn has pushed me to move onwards onto new projects that I am excited about.”
