Patti Smith has been hospitalized in Italy.

Details are few, but the 76-year-old is said to have arrived in the country feeling fine, but was hospitalized with what’s being referred to as a sudden illness.

Smith was forced to cancel her show at the Duse Theatre on Dec 12th.

Since then, Smith has been released from the hospital but has cancelled all events for the remainder of the week, including a Thursday night (Dec 14) show in Venice and a book-signing in Milan the next day.

The Local Health Authority of Bologna revealed the legendary singer was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday (Dec 13) after what they referred to as, “…a short period of observation in emergency.”

They went on to write: “Patti Smith is discharged and in good health conditions.”
