Noomi Rapace is in talks to play Amy Winehouse on the big screen.
The biopic is being written and directed by Kristen Sheridan, who previously helmed In America, Disco Pigs and August Rush.
The Irish-born director is the daughter of director Jim Sheridan and she was nominated for an Academy Award for co-writing In America with her sister and dad.
She also appeared in My Left Foot, playing the younger sister of Daniel Day-Lewis.
An agreement hasn’t been finalized with Rapace yet, but sources say the Swedish actress who rocketed to fame in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo will likely take on the role.
The film, tentatively titled Amy Winehouse at this point, will be produced by Subotica Films and City Entertainment.
Although she’s nearly 10 years older than Winehouse was at the time of her death, Rapace is a mercurial actress who knows how to vanish inside a character.
