Murray Attaway Of Guadalcanal Diary To Release New Solo Album “Tense Music Plays”

Written by:

Murray Attaway is set to release his long-awaited new solo album Tense Music Plays.

The former Guadalcanal Diary frontman hasn’t put a solo album out since his 1993 debut In Thrall, which featured guests like Jackson Browne, Aimee Mann, Jon Brion, Steve Nieve and Benmont Tench.

Although Attaway recorded songs for a follow-up to In Thrall, the album was never released.

As for Tense Music Plays, in a statement Attaway says: “I kept meaning to do another record, but I’m easily distracted. It took me a while to focus.”

Recorded along with engineer Mark Williams (Joe Walsh, Southern Culture On The Skids), the eight-song effort features tracks like “Hole In The Ground” and “Never Far Away.”

The first single “Breath,” finds Attaway’s delivery as commanding as ever, his voice rippling through the track with power and finesse.

Tense Music Plays will be out May 9th on Moon Ray Sound.
