Morrissey Believed To Have Signed With Sire Records

Written by:

It appears Morrissey has signed with Sire Records.

Although nothing official has been announced by the legendary record company themselves, Morrissey’s social media accounts are now emblazoned with the unmistakable logo.

While details of the putative deal are few, many are hoping Sire will be the company to finally release Morrissey’s vaulted Bonfire Of The Teenagers album.

The Andrew Watt-produced album which features guest appearances by Iggy Pop and Red Hot Chili Peppers members Flea and Chad Smith, was slated to come out on Capitol Records back in 2023, but the album was shelved and the company retained the rights, keeping Bonfire in what seemed to be eternal abeyance.

Featuring tracks like “Ha Ha Harlem,” and “Kerouac’s Crack,” Morrissey has asserted that the album is the best he’s ever made and now it seems fans will finally get a chance to hear it.

The former Smiths frontman bought the rights back from Capitol in 2024 and it appears now that once the Sire deal becomes official, it will be released.

Morrissey’s last album was 2020’s  I Am Not A Dog On A Chain, but he also has a completed album called You’re Right, It’s Time in the queue.
