Molly Ringwald To Be In Conversation With Kathleen Hanna At Kings Theatre In May

Written by:

Actress Molly Ringwald will be in conversation with Kathleen Hanna for the release of Hanna’s new book Rebel Girl: My Life As A Feminist Punk.

Set to take place on May 14th at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn in conjunction with Greenlight Bookstore, the two will be discussing Hanna’s pioneering career as an iconic feminist figure, a frontwoman (Bikini Kill, Le Tigre, The Julie Ruin) and a vocal activist for women’s rights.

The book covers Hanna’s upbringing in Portland, her college years in Olympia, life on the road as the face and voice of the Riot Grrrl movement and the power and joy of being an artist.

Hanna writes of her struggle with Lyme Disease, her marriage to Ad-Rock of The Beastie Boys, confronting male-led violence as a young punk rocker and her friendships with Ian MacKaye of Minor Threat/Fugazi and Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain.

As an actress in the ’80s, Ringwald (The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles) was one of the most recognizable faces on the planet.

Most recently, she’s appeared in five episodes of Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.

All purchased tickets will come with a copy of the book.
