We’ve always been big fans of Martin Sexton.

The Syracuse-born singer/songwriter who got his start busking in Harvard Square, has proven over the course of his nearly thirty year career that he’s one of the most powerful and soulful voices in American song.

He’s also one of the most generous.

With eight albums under his belt, Sexton has decided to make his ninth free for his fans.

The Best of Martin Sexton, Volume 1 is a compilation of tracks culled from Sexton’s winning songbook.

The tracklisting was decided by the fans themselves–Sexton crowdsourced his base by having them choose two songs from each of his albums.

“A wise man once told me that gratitude was best shown with action,” Sexton said in a statement about the album. “So to say thank you, I’ve compiled a Best Of record that you can download for free, no strings attached. Your love of music is an inspiration and a blessing. I’m truly grateful and wish you a happy and healthy new year.”
