The so-called beef between Mark Kozelek (of Sun Kil Moon) and The War on Drugs is well known. There’s no need to go into it here, mainly because Kozelek does it so well in “War on Drugs: Suck My Cock.”
Rather than a song intended to stir up controversy, “War on Drugs: Suck My Cock” continues Kozelek’s project of infusing folk music with hyperrealism. As such an infusion, it’s the logical extension of his latest studio album – the masterpiece, Benji – and much of his brilliant recent work.
