Lil Peep Dead At 21

Written by:

Lil Peep, the wildly charismatic young rapper who was once dubbed “the future of emo” has died.

He was 21.

The cause of death is reportedly due to an overdose of heroin and fentanyl, but that has not been officially confirmed.

Born Gustav Åhr in Long Island, Lil Peep’s music was an inventive blend of unexpected samples, emotive hip-hop, punk rock and trap. His subject material ranged from mental health to addiction and he openly addressed these issues with honesty and heart.

His debut album Come Over When You’re Sober (Part One) found SEM’s Matt Sloan gushing: “This is an open wound of a record that’s filled with chaos, treachery, artistry and soul. Quite simply, it’s one of the most powerful and vital debuts I’ve ever heard.”
