Kim Gordon will be releasing her debut solo album this Fall.
Out October 11 on Matador, the album will be called No Home Record, and it was produced in Los Angeles by Justin Raisen (Ariel Pink, Charli XCX).
With its title inspired by the French-Belgian auteur Chantal Akerman’s No Home Movie, Gordon’s album has already yielded two singles–“Sketch Artist” and “Air BnB.”
The New York-born Gordon was raised in Los Angeles and formed the band Sonic Youth in 1981 with future husband Thurston Moore. Not only did Gordon left the band in 2011, she went through a very public divorce with Moore, which polarized many fans of the band.
Since then, she published her memoir Girl In A Band (2015), she’s appeared on “Portlandia” and in the movie Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far On Foot. She also formed the noise rock band Body/Head as well as the experimental outfit Glitterbust, whose debut album came out on Burger Records.
No Home Record will be comprised of nine tracks and it will be released on cassette, standard black vinyl, limited edition white vinyl and CD.
