Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry is in stable condition right now at a Coney Island hospital after collapsing backstage.
Perry was playing a show in New York with the Hollywood Vampires–his side band with Johnny Depp and Alice Cooper–and after performing a bit woozily, he staggered offstage mid-set and was quickly attended to.
A fireman backstage is said to have performed CPR on Perry immediately.
The 65-year-old Perry was rushed to the hospital and early sources reported that the legendary musician was in critical condition after suffering what appeared to be a heart attack.
Perry had evidently been feeling ill prior to the band taking the stage, according to Cooper, who told the audience: “If you notice one of our brothers is not onstage with us, he was very sick before the show.”
It has not been verified that Perry did indeed have a cardiac episode.
Although many feared the worst, a brighter picture was painted when Cooper posted the following message on Twitter: “Thanks to everyone asking about our brother @JoePerry. He is stable right now, with family & is under the best care.”
