IVY will be putting out a new album in September.
Titled Traces Of You, the record marks the first new album for the indie pop outfit since 2011’s All Hour.
After the death of bassist/producer/songwriter Adam Schlesinger in 2020, the remaining members Dominique Durand and Andy Chase were left with an unfinished album, unsure if the songs would ever see the light of day. But the musicians decided to head back into the sonic trenches to complete the work on what would be their seventh album.
Of the upcoming release, Chase and Durand wrote on social media: “Thank you everyone for all the love, support and encouragement you’ve shown us this past week since we announced the upcoming release of our new album Traces Of You. This album is so special to us because after Adam’s death in 2020 we figured IVY was definitely finished. But unearthing a plethora of long forgotten sketches with him playing on…we were inspired to finally finish – and release – all of them! We decided to launch this new album of material with the first single “Say You Will,” because this song’s a perfect window into our past and future. If you like this song…then you’re gonna love the rest of this album!
Although this will likely be IVY’s valedictory effort, Durand and Chase, along with Michael Hampton recorded an album as Paco in 2004, so it’s possible more music could be on the horizon under a different name.
Schlesinger appears on every track on Traces Of You, which will be released September 5th.
