You can install Pro Tools Express 12 and set up the iLok license and fast track duo USB interface in Windows 10 in these 21 simple steps.
Install time: Approximately 90 minutes with a new quad core computer with 8GB of RAM
Note: It is worth writing down your passwords for your Avid and iLok in an Excel spreadsheet
Checklist:
- Create ProTools account associated with your email
- Associate your licenses with your account/email
- Sign in to avid.force.com with email and password
- Go to My Products and Subscriptions > Product Details and Download Links > Pro Tools Express 10.3.4 Installer (Windows 7)
- Extract All
- Click on Setup Application (439kb)
- Allow Pace to make updates on your computer
- Reboot your computer
- Download QuickTime on apple.com/quicktime/download
- Insert iLok into USB
- Go to iLok.com, download 64-bit License Manager
- Extract, allow PACE Anti-Piracy to allow this app to make changes to your computer
- Restart computer
- Make sure Avid account is activated, check email
- Log in to iLok License manager, activate license
- Log in to Pro Tools Express
- Go to avid.force.com/pkb/articles/download/fast-track-duo-drivers
- Download version 1.0.4 for Fast Track Duo
- Extract, allow Avid Technology to make changes to your PC, check box for always trust software from Avid technology
- Click pop-up to upgrade the Fast Track to the latest firmware
- Log in to Pro Tools Express, create session from template, create blank session, or open session
