Harry Anderson, who is perhaps best known for his role as the Mel Torme-loving judge Harry Stone on “Night Court” has died.
The Rhode Island-born actor was 65.
Anderson was found at his home in Asheville, North Carolina. As of now, the cause of death is unknown.
A trained magician, the Chicago-raised Anderson broke into public consciousness after a series of memorable appearances on “SNL” and “The Tonight Show” with Johnny Carson.
Anderson landed NBC’s “Night Court” in 1984; the show ran for eight seasons and garnered Anderson three Emmy nominations.
He starred on “Dave’s World” from 1993-1997. The show was based on the life of humor columnist Dave Barry.
