Comprised of pianist Holly Bowling, Tom Hamilton (American Babies/JRAD), Steve Lyons (Nicos Gun), Raina Mullen (American Babies) and Scotty Zwang (Dopapod/RAQ), Ghost Light are a truly special band.
Combining musical virtuosity with improvisational dexterity, this Philadelphia outfit is one of the most buzzed about bands of 2018. With a debut album about to drop and a sold-out tour underway, Ghost Light are a band that’s gaining momentum with every passing second. Known for covering everyone from Tears For Fears to The Grateful Dead, Ghost Light are one of most innovative acts around.
Their show at the Brooklyn Bowl (4/11) was one of the most satisfying shows I’ve seen in a while.
Notably, it was the debut show of the band’s East Coast swing and Ghost Light knocked the ball out of the park.
Mullen is a bewitching presence, her voice redolent with wisdom and grace, and Hamilton is nothing short of awesome. The band played new original tracks that will be on their new album as well as a cover of the Rolling Stones’ “Sway” and the Dead’s “Jack Straw.”
