Judy Lyon interviews John Fryer here:
Stereo Embers is pleased to premiere the new track from Black Needle Noise.
Taken from the band’s forthcoming sophomore album Lost In Reflections, the track “Neon Noir” is a stirring number, replete with moody textures and dark, atmospheric beauty. The track also finds the band’s braintrust John Fryer singing under the moniker Dr. Strangefryer.
Black Needle Noise is a 50/50 collaboration between Fryer and many different talented singer/songwriters, such as; Attasalina, Mimi Page, ZiaLand, Omniflux, Jarboe, Betsy Martin, Andrea Kerr, Ledfoot, Spectra Paris, Jennie Vee, Ana Breton, Kendra Frost, Elena Alice Fossi, Antic Clay, Andreas Elvenes, and Bill Leeb.
Fryer, who has produced everyone from Love and Rockets to Dead Can Dance, is one of the most innovative sonic architects in the business–his moody compositions are nuanced and always compelling and “Neon Noir” ranks among his best work.
