Stereo Embers is excited to premiere “Day Of The Child,” the new single from Ireland’s Le Galaxie.
The band’s newest track is taken from their new album Pleasure and it was recorded in Dublin with Swedish producer Blende (Two Door Cinema Club, Lana Del Rey). Notably, the album finds May Kay (Fight Like Apes), who has collaborated with the band for years, on board now as a full-time member of Le Galaxie.
A percussive blast of hypnotic electro-pop and wicked synth stomp, “Day Of The Child” is quite easily one of the most infectious tracks of 2018. Its whiplash bass is buoyed by Kay’s bewitching vocals which sound like a blend of Siouxsie Sioux and a more feral Yaz-era Alison Moyet.
With two albums under their musical belts–Laserdisc Nights II (2011), Le Club (2015)–the Choice Music Prize-nominated band are also one of the busiest acts around. Aside from tours with Primal Scream and Faithless, headlining Irish festivals like Sea Sessions and Body & Soul, and a recent appearance at SXSW, they’ve just put the finishing touches on a new musical interpretation of the Apocalypse Now soundtrack and their songs have been used in ads for everyone from Vodafone to Absolut.
