The pummeling two-piece band Cinema Cinema from Brooklyn makes a sound like a horde of Thors coming down off Punk Rock Mountain with the stone tablets spelling out how punk should sound grinding beneath their feet while shouting over the din as if shredding God’s own larynx and playing with an intensity that suggests they eat thrash metal for breakfast and math rock for lunch before chasing it all down with tankards of pure adrenaline. No wonder they attracted the attention of epic noise producer Martin Bisi (Swans, Unsane, Cop Shoot Cop), who agreed to produce them after a chance meeting in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy (Bisi was touring the spectacular destruction in Manhattan when he came upon guitarist/vocalist Ev Gold and drummer Paul Claro salvaging what they could from their ruined practice space and out of tragedy was birthed opportunity). The album that resulted, called A Night At The Fights and the band’s third, is a wailing visceral burst of coiled punk thrash exorcism that sees the fractured light of day on Lumiere on August 19th. Fortunately, though, you don’t have to wait that long to get a taste of it, as CITC presents the premier airing of one of the album’s most searing tracks, “Broad Daylight.” Sit down, strap in, and for god’s sake TURN IT UP!
