Steven Page is a revelation.
One of the finest singer/songwriters on the planet, Page brought his satchel of songs to the District Music Hall in Connecticut on a late October evening and proceeded to play a set of true wonder.
Literate, moving and altogether rousing, the Ontario-born Page’s songbook is filled with more highlights than a Connor McDavid career retrospective.
Opening for Billy Bragg, Page’s onstage presence was endearing and warm and the music was heart-stoppingly good.
With a voice that’s filled with musical precision and power, Page’s songs are elegantly imbued with melodic finesse and hooks galore.
Hard to pick favorites but “New Shore” and “Old Apartment” were undeniable stunners.
But who are we kidding? The eight-song set was absolutely perfect.
