Esquire Magazine is searching for a Culture Editor to work out of their New York office.

The position is for a candidate who is immersed in national culture (TV, movies, music, food, fashion) and isn’t intimidated by working in a fast-paced environment. The job is a mixture of feature writing, line editing, social media and managing writers.

Job description

Responsibilities:
– Manage the Culture coverage and ensure it has the correct content mix 24/7/365
– Cover big news events in real-time, whether that’s an awards show, major sporting event or presidential debate
– Must work well managing writers on a small, extremely fast-paced team
– Comfortable using a range of analytics tools to identify trending stories, track the progress of the stories published and evaluate their performance after the fact
– Comfortable and confident backing up editorial decisions with both data and judgment

Desired Skills and Experience

Requirements:
– At least 5 years as a senior editor in digital media
– Strong relationships with top-shelf writers
– Have a passion for digital news, online trends
– Strong visual and photo research skills
– Versed in using Omniture, Chartbeat, etc.
– Weekend and evening work will be required as part of the publishing cycle
