Erin Moran, who played Joanie Cunningham on ABC’s “Happy Days” has died.
Moran was 56.
At this point, the cause of death is unknown.
Moran was a regular player on the sitcom for ten years (1974-1984) and she starred in the spin-off “Joanie Loves Chachi” for the sole season it was on the air.
The Indiana-born Moran may have broken through with “Happy Days” but by then she was already somewhat of a veteran, having already been on a show (“Daktari”) that had run from 1966-1969.
She had also appeared in a film with Debbie Reynolds (“How Sweet It Is!”) as well as “The Don Rickles Show.”
Moran’s career stalled after her “Happy Days” character left the screen and many believe it was due to the fact that viewers couldn’t see her as anything but Joanie Cunningham.
Although she appeared on everything from “Murder, She Wrote” to “Celebrity Fit Club,” over the last three decades Moran’s acting output remained inconsistent.
Reportedly suffering from various health problems in the past few years, Moran was reportedly working on her autobiography at the time of her death.
