Anybody who knows me knows I love Deer Tick.
They also know that there’s almost no other band I love to photograph more than Deer Tick.
The Rhode Island outfit stopped by Warsaw in Brooklyn the other night and they played a scorching set that was dynamic, kinetic and soulfully reviving.
Singer/songwriter John McCauley is one of the most captivating frontmen in rock and roll and he was in fine form, filling the stage with an athletic blast of jumpy and infectious punk rock energy.
Touring behind their new album Emotional Contracts, Deer Tick also reached into their back catalogue. Hard to pick favorites, but “Forgiving Ties” and “Ashamed” were two standouts, while the night-closing combo of “Dancing In The Dark” and “The Real Thing” were devastatingly perfect.
