Psychedelic folk singer Devendra Banhart has announced he’ll be reissuing his 2005 album Cripple Crow.
Marking the album’s 20th anniversary, the nearly forty-track new edition will include the original album, demos, live material, B-sides and previously unheard work.
Produced by Vetiver’s Andy Cabic, Cripple Crow was Banhart’s fifth album and it was originally released by XL Recordings.
“Cripple Crow! Equal parts gag and pride! What a trip! What a ride! What a time!” Banhart wrote in a press release announcing the album’s arrival.
He went on to write: “It’s all a bit embarrassing, and, yet, it was such a beautifully free time of uncensored experimentation and loving camaraderie that I can’t help but be proud to share this reissue with a bunch of new stuff I can’t believe didn’t get burnt in my ‘burning my archives’ phase! Thank you to everyone for sharing bits of pics and ephemera ya had flopping around!”
Heralding the Texas-born Banhart’s new label Heavy Flowers, Cripple Crow will be available in early September.
