Demi Lovato is awake and alert after being rushed to the hospital earlier today (7/24).

Lovato’s publicist issued this statement on her health: “Demi is awake and with her family, who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers and support.”

Although there has been a rush of speculation about what caused Lovato to be taken to the hospital, the statement went on to offer some clarity on that subject: “Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.”

Lovato is currently at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Speaking on behalf of the Los Angeles Police Department, Jeff Lee said a call came this morning from the 8000 block of Laurel View Drive in Laurel Canyon, which is where Lovato lives. The call indicated that a woman of 25 was in need of immediate medical attention.

At this point, it’s not known who was with the singer or who made the call, but details are trickling in and will be made public soon.

Sources told SEM that Lovato was treated with Narcan, a medicine often used in overdoses because it blocks the effects of opioids.
