Mark Osegueda has been revealed as the lead singer in Kerry King’s new solo project.
The Slayer guitarist told Rolling Stone that, for him, the Death Angel frontman was the natural choice to sing on his debut solo album From Hell I Rise, even though other names had been considered.
King told the outlet: “When you hear Mark on this record, you know that’s the guy.”
For metal-minded trivia fans, Osegueda and King first crossed paths when Death Angel opened for Megadeath in 1984; it was one of only four gigs where King played guitar for the band.
The personnel for King’s band also features Hellyeah bassist Kyle Sanders, guitarist Phil Demmel, who played with Machine Head, and former Slayer drummer Paul Bostaph.
From Hell I Rise, whose first single is “Idle Hands,” will be out May 17th.
