Stereo Embers has learned that the legendary David Bowie has died.
He was 69.
The singer died at peace, surrounded by his family.
Although details are scarce, it’s been revealed that Bowie had been battling cancer for the last 18 months.
On the singer’s official Facebook page the following statement was posted: “David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.”
The Brixton-born singer/songwriter sold over 140 million albums during his long and brilliant career and he’s one of the most influential artists to ever walk this earth.
We here at Stereo Embers are shocked, saddened and utterly speechless.
More details as they come in and a more fitting tribute is forthcoming, but for now, we’re just going to put on Scary Monsters and turn off the lights.
Very sorry and sad to say it's true. I'll be offline for a while. Love to all. pic.twitter.com/Kh2fq3tf9m
