Stereo Embers is sorry to report that Krautrock pioneer Dieter Moebius has died.
He was 71.
The Swiss-born Moebius who played in Harmonia and Cluster, also worked with Brian Eno on several occasions, most notably on the Cluster & Eno album.
His bandmates Michael Rother and Hans-Joachim Roedelius confirmed Moebius’ death through social media.
Additionally, producer Paul Epworth tweeted the tribute: “Terribly sad to hear of the passing of Dieter Moebius. One of the true Kosmiche visionaries.”
Moebius’ last album was 2014’s Nidemonex.
The cause of death is unknown.
