It was fast.
Like, really fast.
And then it was over.
But the fact remains: last night in New York, the legendary Riot Grrrl band Bikini Kill played together for the first time in two decades.
The event was a launch party held at the Kitchen in New York for Jenn Pelly’s 33 1/3 book about the Raincoats’ eponymous record.
With very little fanfare, Kathleen Hanna, Kathi Wilcox and Tobi Vail got on stage and tore through “For Tammy Rae,” which is on the band’s 1993 classic Pussy Whipped.
That heralded the return of the Raincoats, who took the stage right after.
Last night, Kathi, Kathleen and I played an old BK song (For Tammy Rae) as a surprise to The Raincoats in celebration of @jennpelly 33 1/3 !
