A Tribe Called Quest are indeed reuniting and here’s what Stereo Embers has learned so far:
- The legendary hip-hop outfit will be playing “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” on Friday (Nov 13).
- The reunion is to commemorate what’s known as the silver anniversary of the band’s debut album People’s Instinctive Travels And The Paths Of Rhythm.
- Although the technically accurate date of the silver anniversary was several months ago–the record hit shelves in April of 1990–the performance will be in tandem with the reissue of the record.
- This will be the first in a series of reissues of the band’s small, but dazzling discography.
- People’s Instinctive Travels will have the following bonus tracks: “Footprints” remix feat. Cee Lo Green; “Bonita Applebum”(Pharrell Williams remix) and “Can I Kick It?” (J Cole remix)
- The group haven’t recorded a new album since 1998 and as of now, there are no plans to reconvene for a new record.
- In an official statement issued by the band, Q-Tip wrote: “I had this album in my head for years before I did it…Looking at it overall, to see the thoughts of a 16-year-old gain any kind of acknowledgement makes me feel like I have arrived … But to see it in this incarnation … I’m humbled.”
- Their performance on “The Tonight Show” will be their first in over two years.
