A Certain Ratio have announced the reissue of their 1985 album Live In America.
Originally only available on their 1986 tour dates in the format of a band-released cassette, the 40th anniversary of Live In America which will be out in all formats, marks yet another in a string of comprehensive reissues for the legendary Manchester outfit.
Recorded in the summer of 1985 while on tour in the U.S. with New Order, Live In America features the lineup of keyboardist Andrew Connell, drummer Donald Johnson, Jez Kerr on bass and vocals, Martin Moscrop on guitar and trumpet, and Anthony Quigley on saxophone.
In a press release about the reissue, A Certain Ratio’s writes: “The tour was fun and we were very well looked after by New Order and especially Rob Gretton, New Order’s manager. Rob always made sure that we were well fed and watered and would fulfill any request we had. Sometimes the promoters wouldn’t want us to eat in the same swanky restaurants as New Order due to costs and because we were the ‘warm up’ act. When this happened, Rob would just tell them that he would pay for ACR. He watched our performances every night and gave us his opinion on how he thought it went. He was one of our biggest fans and we miss him dearly.”
