Our Track of the Day today comes from The Mowgli’s.
Best known for their Top 20 single “San Francisco” the L.A.-based outfit thought they’d try their hand at writing a Christmas song.
Although the instrumentation was highly collaborative and recorded with ProTools, each member was given the task to write a verse. Reconvening later in the evening, harmonies began to be layered over each individually presented verse and the song began to take on an organic, melodic texture.
We think “The Xmas Song” is a modern classic that captures the spirit of the holiday quite well, indeed.
