Stereo Embers TRACK OF THE DAY – “Fractured World” by UK-based outfit Monarchy

Written by:

Consisting on one Andrew Armstrong and one Ra Black, both originally from Australia, Monarchy is a duo of synth-poppers with as strong a visual aesthetic as musical if their newest video is anything to go by. But it’s the musical that’s most compelling, a stylish cross between Wire at their poppiest and Field Music at their danciest with a bit of Daft Punk doing Roxy Music that caught us a bit off guard here at Stereo Embers Central by wowing our senses into a kind of clubby, intelligent trance. This is the lead single from the band’s oddly-named sophomore album Abnocto (following a high-profile collaboration with burlesque star Dita Von Teese that resulted in the single “Disintegration”) available now on Hacan Sound/Kartel, and you can count us as among the suddenly smitten.
