HBO shocked fans of the series “Togetherness” today when it announced it was canceling the series.
The April 10 finale of Season 2 will be the last episode the network will air.
The series was created by Mark and Jay Duplass along with Steve Zissis and although it was a hit with critics, it hovered just under the 400,000 mark for Live+Same Day viewership.
HBO issued a statement to Deadline that read: “Although we have decided not to proceed with another season of Togetherness, we look forward to continuing our strong creative collaboration with the talented Jay and Mark Duplass.”
Starring Amanda Peet along with Mark Duplass, Melanie Lynskey and Zissis, the series was a thoughtful meditation on marriage and friendship–two issues brought into full relief by examining the lives of two couples living together in Los Angeles.
