George Michael Suggests There Could Be A Wham! Reunion

Written by:

George Michael has suggested that a Wham! reunion might be in the cards.

Michael and his musical partner and childhood friend Andrew Ridgeley were bonafide superstars in the ’80s, selling nearly thirty million albums and posting several chart-topping singles like “Careless Whisper” and “Freedom.”

But Michael called time on the band when they were arguably at their peak, citing artistic and financial pressures as the reasons for the group disbanding.

Now nearly thirty years later, Michael has confessed breaking Wham! up in the mid-’80s was a big mistake and even went so far as to tell Q Magazine that it was his, “biggest regret.”

The singer has inferred that a Glastonbury set in 2015 or a one-off reunion show elsewhere would be possibilities. A one-off, however, would likely not satisfy the band’s millions of fans who have waited decades to see them play and many are hoping that Wham! will reunite for a more comprehensive tour.

As for his relationship with his old school chum, it appears that Michael and Ridgeley–who is married to former Bananarama singer Keren Woodward–are still very good friends. In fact, Michael recently told Mojo that he had seen Ridgeley recently.

“He came round and cooked,” Michael said.
