On a busman’s holiday from her band The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s, Karen O is set to release her debut solo record.
Dubbed Crush Songs, the album was originally recorded during sessions that took place between 2006 and 2007 and will be released by Cult Records, the label that’s owned by Julian Casablancas of The Strokes.
A self-described collection of low-fi material that’s profoundly influenced by the harmonies of ’60s girl groups, Crush Songs glows with perfect pop simplicity, and contains startling melodic depths.
