It may have seemed unlikely (and in many ways it still might be), but it sure looks like David Lee Roth is ready to join Sammy Hagar on tour.
Hagar’s 2024 Best Of All Worlds Tour has a murderer’s row of a lineup: Michael Anthony, Jason Bonham and Joe Satriani.
David Lee Roth may very well be added to that list.
Hagar recently told Howard Stern, “We’re gonna invite every musician in every town. … Other guitar players, we’ll get them involved; other singers, get ’em involved. If Alex Van Halen wants to jump out — if David Lee Roth wants to come out and join us, come on motherfucker, you are welcome. This is about Van Halen.”
Although the two former Van Halen singers have had a frosty past, the Van Halen News Desk reached out to Roth and he said: “I’m ready to go. Let’s do this.”
That may sound promising, but Hagar already seems to be backpedaling on his seemingly magnanimous overture. On Instagram, Hagar refined his invitation: “He can come out and sing a song on a show or two if he can remember the words.”
He went on to say: “He’s not invited on the tour. NOOOO Fucking way. It was to sing a song with us somewhere like a lot of singers, guitarist etc are going to do on this tour. I know better than to have him on tour again. Been there done that.”
